I have seen this mentioned many times but don't know what it is. I am in Scotland - is it the same as our 'Accountant in Bankrutcy'?

In some ways, yes. I've given you two links, Official Receiver (scroll down the page on this one) & the Accountant in Bankruptcy , which you can look at to compare the roles of the two. For more detailed info, I think you should contact the insolvency advisory services in Scotland or use the other links you'll find on those pages, as the law is quite different there.BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."
