Getting bubble gum off a car seat - any tips please?

Options
Spotted this morning that one of the kids (they're not confessing to this one lol) has managed to smear a bit of bubblegum/chewing gum on our car seat. It's in a really awkward place - in a seam on the seat - so very hard to get off.

Does anyone know of anything that dissolves this type of thing safely so that it can be rubbed away?

Any tips and tricks appreciated. Thanks :o

You could try steaming it off, however, I would be more inclined to get some of those ice packs and freeze it, it should come off then.

Thanks, great idea! We're going away at the weekend and taking a cool bag which has those blue ice pack thingys so will try to freeze it with that before we go and see if it comes off.

Thanks, pigpen. There is no actual 'lump' of gum, just a smear that's gone into the fabric of the seat so it's not that easy to get off.

I've also read that white vinegar (or even WD40) might work??

Going to try the WD40 later on and hope any lingering smell is gone by the time we set off for Tenby on Friday - 150 mile care trip will not be pleasant if the smell is still therer lol
