Sorry about the cryptic title, let me explain.
We'll be moving back to the UK in January, and are replacing a lot of our old kitchen equipment to fit out our new home. Our bread maker is reaching the end of it's life, what with it being positively ancient, (like me.)
So we'd like to replace it, BUT, we rarely make bread in it, preferring to just make up the dough, then bake the loaves in our bread tins in the oven. We'll have a wood burner with a bread oven on it in the new place, so we see no reason why that would change.
So, recommendations please for the best bread machine for making dough!

I'm no expert but I'd guess most make dough successfully.
Mine is great - came to me free. It's digital and has a timer so I can set it to start pretty much any time. Only used it for dough once, preferring to make loaves in the machine, but found the dough pretty good.Emma :dance:

I was considering getting another bread machine after giving mine away a few years back.
Then I discovered 'no knead' bread and haven't looked back. Easiest thing ever. Especially when having arthritis can make extended kneading difficult some days.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

I make dough in my kenwood which works really well
I imagine all bread makers with good reviews make a good dough. If that's what you are after then pick the cheaper end rather then an all singing all dancing one0 -

Bread makers use very little electricity to bake the bread. I measured mine and it's about 0.25kWh, so about 3p on peak rate here.
In view of that, is it really worth the faff of taking the dough out to bake in a bread oven?

We now make seeded bread, the portion of seeds costs the same as the the total cost, including electric, of a non seeded loaf ! 0 -
Which instant yeast do you use with that recipe please, rosie383? The one they mention seems to be American.0 -
Wondered what flour you use, is all-purpose the same as plain or do you use bread flour?

Mixing ingredients and kneading dough by hand is pretty quick and therapeutic. Don't replace the breadmaker become the breadmaker!0
