Use BBQ pizza topping as cooking sauce

Options
I want to make BBQ chicken drumsticks in slow cooker, but only have a jar of BBQ pizza topping, can I use this instead of cooking sauce?

Don't see why not. You could also make a dry rub if you have thinks like brown sugar, mustard powder, garlic powder, thyme, paprika etc. Plenty of recipes online for dry rub

Yes. All sauces are pretty much the same ... the label/marketing are purely there to sell the product.

If it's wet and tastes of the right flavour you can pretty much use it in any other way you choose.

I would say that I am sitting here right now having used a "general cooking sauce" in the SC for 5+ hours. It's just "wet and of a particular flavour" - so that's it, job done.

    Eat it and enjoy.
