Restons....arrow global....hsbc confused

I received a letter from restons friday....the tone of which was quite unsettling. They are threatening court action over a credit card debt orrigainally assigned to arrow from hsbc. They included a form for details of my expenditure and the letter hinted at a discounted rate to pay back. I am trying to work out the best course of action.
According to the document they sent me the credit card was opened in 2007 which is right. The account was passed to arrow in 201r (according to restons). They only information about payment (or more specfocally lack there of) is for arrow nothing before that. This confuses me.
Im 85% certain they last payment to this account was made in june or july 2010....
My questions are:
1) what should i do next
2) how do i do it
3) should i be worried
Thanks for any help you can all give.

Hi,
(1) & (2) You should send the provit letter.
(3) Yes and no, they may very well take action through the courts for this, so it's essential you send the provit letter ASAP.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Hi
Sourcrates is referring to a sample letter asking the debt collectors to prove that you owe the debt by providing evidence. It’s known on this forum as the ‘prove it’ letter.
It’s available here:

You put the name of who ever is chasing you for the money.
After that it's a waiting game, they must provide evidence when asked to do so, but don't rely on it 100%.
See what there response is, and take it from there.
I assume you intend to fight this on the basis it's statute barred, correct ?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Yep. That seems to me the logical way to proceed. Though i am worried by the fact that my credit report shows nothing for this pre 2014 (when arrow took it on).0
