Disney Vault Method

Options
Hello everyone,

Is anyone familiar with the Disney Vault method in which you buy one of the classic Disney blu rays/dvds (Lion King, Sleeping Beauty etc) special edition versions when it is commercially released and then Disney stops producing these blu rays/dvds for around a decade, making them shoot up in price? If so, would I go about it by snapping up any special edition disney blu rays whenever there is a new edition in the retailers, or do I buy them cheaply online after they've gone through this vault process and hope they go back up in value?

Thanks :)

    Hi,

Yes I tried this about 2 years ago to find that the "Special Edition" Blu Ray I purchased is pretty much the exact price I paid. I wouldn't bother tbh

The trouble is, these special limited editions are made in such vast numbers that it's pretty unlikely they will increase in value in any significant way. My own rule of thumb is that if it's called a "special limited edition" or "collectors edition", it's pretty unlikely to increase in value because people will buy it with that in mind from day one.

This is laughable, by the time you've hung onto them for years another system will have been invented. I mean, people are already not buying DVDs. Think for a moment.....Betamax, VHS, DVD, Bluray........streaming.
