Locarr, your pictures have sent me down memory lane.

My grandad always made us bonfire toffee, which was very dark, almost black, and had to be broken up with a hammer. He told me once his secret ingredient was vinegar. He used to get paper bags from the shop and after we'd bundled up in hats and scarves, we'd all be given a bag of toffee to take outside, along with a toffee apple made by granny.

Catherine wheels on the shed door, rockets in milk bottles, roman candles on top of a wooden box, and a bit of a bonfire by the vegetable plot.

Jacket potatoes in the oven, elderberry cordial made by granny, and a lovely open fire in the living room to sit by before bed.

    Perfect.

That is almost identical to ours, except we used to put the baked potatoes in the fire wrapped in foil, they tasted lovely :D
