It needs to be some kind of spotlight affair in order to read properly while in bed, and it has to have its own switch. There is no other switch associated with the wires sticking out of the wall!
Homebase and B&Q aren't coming up trumps here. Anyone know any good online lighting shops?

What exactly are you looking for, wall mounted light, ceiling light, recessed or non recessed with a surface mounted or flush switch and are the cables to be clipped to the wall or chased in and is it to be mains powered or battery operated?0

Do you mean a wall light with a pull cord?
I'd be interested in any answers too if it is, as i'm looking for ones for 2 of my bedrooms - and they all have pull cords, and most wall lights don't have them.0 -

Mains powered, the wires are already there from a previous lamp, wall mounted, non-recessed, switch as part of light itself.0 -
