Stooooopid Q alert

Ok i really fancy a spinach & potato curry ,the recipe ive got calls for a can of coconut milk but ive only got creamed coconut sachets

how do i "make" this into coconut milk ? :o

can i just melt it and add water / milk

told ya it was a stoooopid Q :o :rotfl:

    It's not stooopid - I asked a similar question once because I'd not used coconut milk/cream before and didn't know :)

    I would just melt it into warm water and add that. I use those solid blocks of coconut and melt them/part of them down as required. Just do some of it if it is one of those large blocks - you can always add more :)

    If you have those sachets that are 50g each, then I would use 2 sachets dissolved in about 1/2 pint warm water. If you can get to an ethnic shop, it's cheaper to buy creamed coconut in blocks, I get it for about 30p for 200g.

    I don't use the tins, I prefer to use the blocks because then you can use as much or as little as you want.

    i used one sachet and about 300ml of water and it was very yummy and fab :T

    will try and get some in a block when the sachets run out

    If you've got some dessicated coconut lurking in the cupboard you can add boiling water to it and then after a little while strain it off and you have HM coconut milk!
