I'm looking around for something to replace my 25 year old Electrolux which has been showing signs of possible problems for when it actually goes. Normally I'd be buying a Henry, but wouldn't fit into new hall cupboard easily. New home doesn't require any jet-propelled, fancy-shmanciness. No kids or pets and the floors are hardwood throughout with some rugs and minimalist scandi furnishings. Tiled kitchen and bathrooms which I've always done the old way, hands and knees.
Requirements;
Slimline and flatish against wall for storage, so a 'stick' one?
Good at wood floors without scratching and possible attachment for skirting.
Cordless
Fairly lightweight
Place is very easy to keep clean, and takes little effort so don't want to buy a sledgehammer to crack a nut sort of thing.
I'm thinking £150 tops.
These two seem much cheaper and good reviews and seem to fit the bill. Anyone comment on either?
Morphy Richards 731006 2-in-1 Supervac
Morphy Richards 732004 Supervac
Any recommendations that might fit the bill? I can then keep a lookout for sales and no rush as still have a functioning vacuum.
TIA

Do you mean something like this.

I had one for about a year and a half. When you pick it up to take it back to its stand. Whatever you have vacuum hasn't been sucked into the bag and falls out  :rotfl: so you have to either start again or get a dustpan and brush.
Given your hard floors I would buy a sweeping brush and dustpan and save £140.00!0 -
Look at MSE Martin’s email alert re: Vax. The cordless is just under £45 but I can’t get the reviews upValue-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Thanks for replies.
Glad I asked, are these stick things rubbish in general then?
Linda what I was thinking of was this kind of thing

V4 sorry you've lost me there.
You're right a good broom and dustpan is not a bad option, but the place is big and I like it dust-free as much as possible so a light duty vacuum seems the best option if they are any good.

I have only had one rechargeable one, but I do not think I would buy another. We are of the opinion now that they are never going to be as powerfull as a corded one. I do not like the look of those in you link, I think the dust collector is too small and a long way to travel, given it fell back down in mine after a whike,0

Those stick things seem a good idea but the power just isn't there with a machine with limited battery power and they soon wear out. The batteries are expensive to replace.
I just bought one of those Vax's on offer upright with a turbo tool and long hose - used to use a Vax years ago £40 - do it free delivery!
Seriously I don;t work for VAX lol.
Don;t fall for the patter.0
