Dear all

Has anyone had any dealing with this company. An elderly relative of mine has been contacted saying that they can safe guard their home from the council should they need to go into a care home.

i think they are based in halifax??

    If someone is likely to need to go into care, then there is nothing that can be done to shelter the property from the liability. Even if you gave it away to your family just before care was needed, they would be called on for care costs. You cannot deprive yourself of assets to avoid care costs.

    They may be trying to get your interest in equity release and sheltering capital in Trust, but it would best be avoided. Be safe and always seek the advice of a qualified IFA or solicitor before taking any action.

    General rule of thumb is that you should never transact with cold callers.

    If it is an area that sounds plausible then use a local firm to investigate it. Don't use the cold caller. Most scams come from cold calling.

    Don't deal with company. My parents were cold called on the phone so I did some digging on the internet, no reference to the company on a google search - everyone is on the internet these days, who want to be found!!

    A cold call should be automatically consigned to the 'scam' category. When it involves some supposed 'secret' or 'system' of a financial nature, then the phone should be slammed down even harder.
