As far as I am aware you are definetly not entitled to Maternity Pay as you do not work. 3 months before baby is due you can claim a Maternity Grant (social benefit) and obviously once baby is born you can get tax crdits and child bensfit.

You wont be able to claim the maternity grant until you have the tax credit award notice as proof of eligibility.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

I wasn't working for the full year before I got pregnant 1st time and I got no Maternity benefit. I wasn't working when I got pregnant with my second and got I no Maternity benefit again. Husband working counted for nothing.

Have you been working previously? I got maternity allowance even though I'd given up my part-time job several months earlier. I'd worked 26 weeks out of the 66 weeks before baby was born earning at least £30 a week.

On my ss grant form it says that if you are recieving woeking tax credits, which on a family income of 13k they should be, you can claim 11 weeks before baby is due, (week 29)
Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!
