What are First Direct Mortgages like to deal with?

Strict? Selective?

We've been with them for 5yrs = excellent customer service.

We had to re-mortgage a couple of yrs back, and all went smoothly.

My sister has been with them for 10+ yrs and loves them.

I think the view on here is that they are very picky/strict criteria - but if you fit within the criteria, they are great to deal with.

all fine - very long winded - back and forth - but I am glad I have been accepted and gone with them - they are continually in the top tables for first timers and remortgage so gauge I will stick with them for a long while

I am currently with FD (been for 8 years), but the mortgage was taken out before the new rules on affordability came in. Due to move home soon so will have to go through the long winded process this time.

Did you do two calls, one initial where they tell you what to send in and a second call to go through income and expenditure in more detail? Did you get acceptance on the phone?

I'll be going with them for my first time mortgage in 6 weeks - Banked with them for 3+ years and their customer service has always been great. 1.94% 5 year fixed is a great deal so good luck to us all!

We're with them. They had a reputation a decade ago for being slow and meticulous and that was our experience too.

They're worth considering, if you're eligible for a good rate.

For first direct mortgages, and customer services they are really good, but for savers, pretty crap.

I just paid off my mortgage and gone from a borrower to a saver, and in the process of moving elsewhere.
