Have you checked on all three credit reporting agencies that there is nothing listed you don't know about.

Does your partner have a common name? It sounds more like a letter sent out in the hope of finding the right person. Usually Lowell get involved when debts are sold on but normally they would know who they are contacting and it would say what the debt is for and who it was originally owed to.

Someone will advise the next step if you are sure it isn't anything your partner owes

Write to them asking for proof of the debt, which you are disputing. I'm dealing with them over a Statute Barred debt, and the politest I can call them is a bunch of cowboys.

    Hi,

Send the provit letter to Lowell.

That will get you all the information Lowell hold about the debt, you will then be able to act accordingly.

    Hi there,

I too have received the very same letter from Lowell so am interested in what steps to take next.
It doesnt actually state I owe a dept it just says to contact them.
Shall I call them or leave it alone?

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.
As mentioned the letter doesn't actually state that I owe anything so how can I write a letter requesting information on a debt when they haven't stated it?
I am not trying to be smart here, just trying to figure out the best route forward.

Well, they are debt purchasers, so they won’t be writing to you about anything else.

You can wait until there letters contain a specific allegation about a specific debt, then you can send the provit letter.
