Seems to be far less smelly after a hand wash in detergent and warm water, but still got a whiff to it. Hopefully, the smell will diminish and it's more offensive to me than others.0

Something else to try would be to buy a charcoal filter intended for a cooker extractor hood (like this one) and pop it in a big plastic bag with your whiffy item for a few days.
I've used this in the past for clothes, books and other items and it does get rid of most smells.0
