The UK Government in various Finance Acts has legislated for charitable donations by individuals to qualify for tax relief and has set out the rules how this tax relief can be claimed.Yep - that seems to be the general consensus of this forum ie. whether it makes sense or not, that's the way it is, so live with it. I was simply trying to find out if there WAS a way to claim the tax back via tax returns. It would appear the answer to that question is "no".
It is not a question of living with it. The rules of claiming this tax relief are an integral part of the legislation.0
