I bought a cap online, but when the package came there were three of them in there. The delivery note stated a quantity of only one - should I send them back or just keep them?

For me it would depend whethe it came from a big company or an independent seller. If it were a big company... it's likely they won't notice the loss and they can definI tell afford it. If it's a small independent company, email them and explain the situation. Ask them what they would like you to do. They might say keep them, they might ask you to return.0

Email them. If they want them back then ensure that they pay for the postage.0

Certainly you should return them, otherwise you would be stealing, but as gsminx says, they should pay the postage as it is their error.Owed @ LBM, including mtg: £85961.15, As of 1st August 2016: £14481.01 :j
September 2016; out of debt and have savings for the saddest reason. RIP Aunty, I'll never forget you:(
Never begin a sentence with "And". Unless you are the Goo Goo Dolls that is.0 -
The correct thing to do would be to send them back. I wouldn't bother :-)0

As mentioned you should certainly tell them. However, I wouldn't ask for postage, I would use a phrase like "I would be happy for you to arrange collection at our mutual convenience."0

I've tried to do this with something delivered to my address that wasn't meant for me, they insisted I be the one to pay for courier pick up for the return. Needless to say, I donated the item to charity. Cheeky swines.0

Irrelevant what size the company is, the right thing is to contact them and let them decide what they want to do.0 -
profit margin on cap is probably so high you would cost the company more by tying up one of their staff replying to your query return postage likely to be more than original cost of caps to seller,as a courtesy to company warn them of despatch problem but then you might get someone fired, cheers tony.0

I've had this situation twice before, each time I emailed the company and explained the issue, on one occasion I even offered pay for the other item as it was something I would have used, both they told me I could keep the additional items with no charge.
My advice is to email the company and let them know, that way the dilemma disappears when they tell you what they want you to do about it.
I would draw the line at paying the return postage though, I wouldn't mind taking it to the post office but I wouldn't be paying for their mistake.0 -
I agree with Tinks. Email the company and tell them of their mistake, and they will either ask you to package them up or keep them. I have been sent wrong items and also items that turned out to be faulty, but the company decide if it is worth their while getting it shipped back, and I have been told to keep them on all occasions. All depends on the value of goods.0
