MSE News: Hold on to Sainsbury's Nectar points for double up event

I was going to mention this too.. They've done a couple of 'double-up' events before, normally before Christmas, but when you look at everything you think 'bloody hell - that's expensive!' - so be cautious.. always look around before committing your hard earned nectar points!


...and come on MSE - I'm surprised you gave a mouthpiece to the Sainsbury's PR machine without a check on what the offer really meant or was worth - it's usually good sign when they restrict the event to items that they can eaily manipulate the prices of.. eg electrical etc!

No, you can spend them online also.

The good thing about this offer is that, if Sainsburys refuses to sell anything at a decent price, you can reverse back into Nectar points without losing anything.

So, pick whichever categories you feel will have the most keenly priced items during the offer period (not sure how to do this, but you can just guess), and then if nothing turns up, you can back out of the deal.

I used it at Christmas for BluRay DVDs and that was great value as they were the same price as other DVD outlets; but agree about the clothes as they are better value when they do a sale promotion.

Ah, that says you can buy and return. I thought from your earlier post you meant you could return the vouchers for refund without using them

From the website you will receive a Sainsbury's Giftcard.

Where an item is returned as unwanted it may be exchanged on a like for like basis or refunded within 28 days. The refund will be calculated as follows:
The value of the Nectar Double Up coupon will be refunded at the pre-Nectar Double Up value onto a Sainsbury's gift card (e.g. 1000 Nectar points exchanged during the promotion for a £10 Nectar Double up coupon will be refunded as £5 onto a gift card). Any cash balance will be refunded using the same method of payment used in the original transaction.

This appears to say that you can convert unwanted goods back into Nectar points on your Nectar card.
