Why are people promoting Low Carb Diets??

This happens to me due to PCOS, only I never recognised it before. I knew (well this is what I'd read) I should try and eat low 'GI'. This always baffled me because i didn't cut out carbs, just ate what I thought were low GI breads etc and i still had carb highs and lows.
It is only recently, through the support and stories shared by others on here and reading lots, that I have realised (for me), it seems to ne physiological, more than psychological.0
