Aldi's version of southern comfort, called southern belle is just as nice0
-
Aldi's gin (9.65 for 70 cl) also comes out well, recently being awarded a higher rating than Bombay Sapphire and other better known more expensive brands in blind taste awards.0

loads of recipes here for home made drinks similar to Baileys, Tia Maria, different vodkas, Dooleys, sloe gin, amaretto - can't remember what else

Taste-wise, Aldis Austins is very nice, but worth remembering that as Pimms is gin based whereas Austins is wine based, I find that you need to be a little more heavy handed with the servings of Austins and it's quite a bit sweeter too.
Haven't tried any of the others, mind you...except Aldis Green Ginger Wine which is more gingery than Stones (the last bottle I had could have blown your head off), but is still delicious and still available now at about £2.50/bottle whereas Stones is ~£6!"A cat can have kittens in the oven, but that don't make them biscuits." - Mary Cooper

has anyone tried the Lidl/Aldi spiced rum? I noticed it in one of them when I was shopping but wondered if it was similar to either Morgans Spiced rum or Sailor Jerrys
I am a Sailor Jerrys fan but find Morgans too strong0 -
Aldi's Ginger wine with lemonade = Crabbies! and much much cheaper.0

Can't afford champagne for a celebration, soak some chopped strawberries in brown sugar, add a few sprigs of mint, leaver overnight, put a teaspoonful of the mix in the bottom of a champagne flute, add a whole strawberry and a mint leaf, top up with cheap dry cava, delicious.0

Cheap pina colada - coconut ice cream and pineapple juice, whisk in a blender with a splash of cheap white rum0

I tried this at Christmas and loved it but it hasn't been in my store since. Is it in your Aldi now?
BTW Stones is on offer at £4 in Sainsbury's.0 -
so far, no one i have served this to can taste the difference.
the great thing is that you can buy the cheapest gin and vermouth and it still tastes great. Also, once you've bought a bottle of each you have enough ingredients to make a few jugs
100ml Gin
300ml Rosso Vermouth
10-15 splashes Angostouras bitters
Lemonade to the top
fresh mint, cucumber, lemon and serve.
Enjoy!0
