I usually try it on in Currys on Manager Specials, which are returned or repaired goods, with very little success.
I don't even want to shop in Comets, whose salesmen seem to be GCSE drop outs who know nothing, and then make things up, which make it even worse for people who need advice. However, they are quite good for price matching in John Lewis, where I get 1% cashback on the John Lewis credit card.0 -
Considering Asda has 60% success rate ,an tesco not far behind ;Are people really havin this happen in supermarkets .I really cant see them negotating ,Surely the price is set ? ?0

A friend wanted to buy 2 x 40" lcd tv's and Comet and Currys wouldn't budge on any discount. (he bought from PC World as lost patience)
In the end I noticed the price had gone down at Currys within a few days and he claimed 110% of the difference of the new selling price. (well got 100% and had to write in for the 10%, which he received and got an extra £5 on top of each.)
I find independent shops more easier to haggle with. (% off or added value) Though Clarks I've always managed to negotiate a discount when buying 2 pairs of shoes. Currys end of line I've managed to get a little more off.0 -

Personally, I think Comet are catching onto the discount given if purchasing an extended warranty, then refunding during the cool off period process.
When I purchased my laptop yesterday, I negotiated a £60 discount, but the salesman would only apply it to the extended warranty, & not the item.
Im slightly miffed how so many people have had such success, or is it really product line dependent?
Maybe different stores within the group have different views/attitudes to how the discount can be applied!...0
