Spill the beans... on Christmas 2012 preparations [IMGRIGHT]http://images.moneysavingexpert.com/images/spillthebeans2.gif[/IMGRIGHT]

Some will read this and think, hang on, it's only July... but plenty of MoneySavers out there have been planning Christmas 2012 since the sales hit on Boxing Day 2011. Have you been stashing presents steadily throughout the year, or do you leave it till Christmas Eve?

I purchased some of my Christmas presents for 2012 before Christmas 2011!!! I had finished my Christmas shopping by the end of November, and saw a few bits in the last minute Christmas sales! :j

I have a few giant boxes in the loft and every time I see something suitable for Christmas or Birthdays I pick it up and it goes up in the loft.

Last year I had so much to give my children and had not spent that much at all, but was thrifty all year round.

I also look out for presents on Ebay, Gumtree and at Car boots, I got a brand new wormery still sealed in its box for my little ones for Christmas this year for 99p and it would have cost a lot more new! :T

I have to say, I'm almost done for Christmas this year!

Just a few close family pressies which I usually buy later on in the year, as it mostly clothing.

Someone on here mentioned adding a couple of items to their weekly shop, in order to reduce the Christmas spend. So intend to start that too - in fact I will begin in the morning. Have just added 'Xmas stuff' to my shopping list!

I have bought some things in Frasers 75% of sale as too good a bargain to miss. Also been saving up vouchers from voucher surveys, shopandscan etc and have around £250 worth of vouchers so far which will be used for Xmas presents.
Am hoping with my vouchers and bits I have to sell on ebay that Xmas presents will be covered (with exception of DH really like to treat him)
    Yearly Grocery Budget - £100.77/ £3500. January Treats Budget - £11.80 / £100.

I've just used the 50% discount from MSE for John Greed jewellery and got 10 items worth nearly £180 for just over £40 as loads of really good reductions then 50% off total.

I have some other presents bought, but not everything yet and have made some of my family Christmas cards. All planned and will be done in plenty of time!

I've saved the Christmas stockings from last year - my daughter always buys 5 fresh ones .
I'm donating them to the Salvation Army. I know they collect presents to give out to local children.
  • I have been buy things for my family over the course of the year. There are few things that I had last year that I am going to re-gift as they are of no use to me.

I have bought things like clothes, toys, slippers where they have been half price or a bargain which means they will still get the same amount spent on them but will have more for the money not only that it means that i dont spend a huge chunk of my wages on gifts all at once.

havent done it before but will certainly do it again.

Always shop for my nieces/nephews christmas & birthday presents in the sale. Also have a list of their shoe sizes as you cant beat the clarks sale for kids shoes. (I also buy clarks shoes in the sale as gifts for any friends that are pregnant £5 cant beat it). All the gifts go in a draw under the bed along side any prezzie that i am re gifting.

I am having a home made christmas for the adults this year as the local college has run an edible christmas courses which was fantastic so choc truffles, brandy snaps ect hampers. Hopefully I will not poison anyone with my poor baking skills!:)

I've been buying gifts on eBay - only those that are BNWT though - as they are usually substantially cheaper there. Managed to get brand new gift sets for less than £5 delivered. And with our self appointed £10 limit per person (my partner and I have our own place now and are struggling for money) we can really get a lot for our money from eBay.
  • i have done this for years and it saves so much money not only that but i have a christmas day birthday and one to do 3 weeks after! my pressie boxes are over flowing. i have a list of everyone i buy for and cross them off with what they have got so there are no surprises just before christmas

I have decided to get some presents early this year, as we have debt to pay off, I can't really afford to spend lots of money. I have also decided to make some pressies this year to save even more!

I have only bought 2 so far, but like the idea to get presents while shopping!
