And so it should be. When the men in suits were doing the planning they left this cohort out in the cold.
Don't think it was intentional, think it was more of a mistake. But wasn't fair as it didn't give them enough time to make plans/changes. Not that anyone can save extra these days with prices rising constantly.0 -

So how do you find out definitively when you can retire if a woman?Awaiting a new sig0 -

That's based on current legislation.
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Nl1/Newsroom/SpendingReview/DG_192159 has the ages resulting from today's announcement.0 -
I think I must have missed something here. My wife was born on 3/10/1953 and, prior to the 'age equality moves' would have qualified for a pension on 3/10/2013 at age 60. The 'first' deferral put this back to 6/3/2017 when she would have been 63.5. The second deferral put this back a further year to 6/3/2018 at age 64.5. I have just looked at the Directgov website (which actually mentions today's 6 month adjustment) but seems to show the same 6/3/2018 qualifying date. How exactly does my wife benefit from this so called magnanimity by the Pensions Secretary?0

Mrs M not impressed, still 66 but I can now have my payrise at 65&7mths :T which brings my tax allowance increase (if it is still going by then) a whole year forward as my birthday is mid April.0

Today's proposal caps the increase (between what you term the first and second deferral) at 18 months. Your wife 's SPA was only increasing by a year, so is unaffected by the cap.0 -

So not the wonderful bargain it is made out to be! Typical.
:TThanks anyway for the clarification that she still has to wait more years beyond what we planned for when I retired in 2006 (being somewhat older than my other half).0 -
I'm now totally confused as the .gov site is way out of date in relation to changes/ proposed changes/revisions. Perhaps I'll just write to my MP and askAwaiting a new sig0
