They'd probably made the person responsible for ordering the paper redundant.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

Perhaps this could explain where all the government paper has gone to

  • I phoned up Friday on my husband's behalf to ask for this to be sent as he hadn't received it and was told they'd sent one straight out, no mention of this at all and he didn't say we would have longer to pay either!!!!!!

Don't suppose there will be a paper trail to find out who was responsible mind you :D

  • "An HMRC spokesman says: 'This in no way prevents the accurate payment of tax and no-one will be out of pocket as a result. Account information can be viewed online so it isn't necessary to wait for a paper statement.' "

What a load of horse dung. This statement is an invoice and it's unlawful to demand a payment without an invoice. Invoices can be disguised and called many things, including a "statement".

Having the internet does not negate common law and the precedents, customs and lawful codes which our entire legal system is based on. Without an actual instrument how can there possibly be an obligation?

I needed a laugh. Is this a sign of government cuts?

I think know the answer. they've run out of paper because they've written so many letters asking people to send in copies of their P60s and P45s for the 08-09 and 09-10 tax years!

Stationary Ordering Person - I've been on sick leave so I left the work experience boy to do the ordering for me and it seems that they didn't realise that the company we buy the paper from at £10 a ream comes not in boxes but in reams, so only ordered 100 reams and not 100 boxes.
