All these different monthly figures are meaningless to me.
Is there a graph anywhere (I'm sure Martin would be happy to do one!) of the various different measures of house prices over, say, the last three years?0 -

http://www.housepricecrash.co.uk/graphs-index.php has a range of graphs, incuding the Nationwide figures, though won't be updated instantly...
I like using http://www1.landregistry.gov.uk/house-prices as you can be specific about location, period, etc...though its a couple of months behind and therefore slightly dated information - or is more accurate because it counts reality, not just mortgage approvals, which might not have proceeded...depending on which side of the fence you sit.

For a 3 year timescale, the fact that the Land Registry isn't totally up to date doesn't matter.
Shows things have dropped by 5% around here in the last 3 years. Interesting. My guess from estate agent windows was that they've stayed the same. I guess they're not fetching their asking prices.
Not that it really matters to us. Have no plans to move. And when we do we'll be buying and selling, so doesn't make much difference. Just looking out of interest.0 -
