Many thanks for this. What is the validity of the six month rule if someone has been living in and paying rates on a property for many years and yet only just discovered that it is possible to challenge the rateable value? The sixmonth rule makes no sense whatsoever.If you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!!

Rates and rateable values are only now used for commercial properties, they have not been used for domestic properties since 1990.
The "official" explanation originally given for the 6 months rule was to stop people continually making proposals and save taxpayers' money.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
