Hi.

Three years ago now i took out a joint loan with my ex with what was then alliance + leicester. All payments upto a year ago had been made on-time. About a year ago now i got made redundant. I have unemployment insurance so i claimed on it. The claim went through fine and i thought nothing of it. anyway after a month or so a letter came through the door saying a payment had been missed. I got straight onto the phone to Alliance+Leicester and spoke to the guy. He confirmed that indeed it was missed and advised to phone up the insurance company which i duely did. They then explained to me that they pay in arrears and all payments will be made this way. I was advised to get back to the bank and tell them this. (Strange how they didn't know as i took the insurance out thorough them). Anyways i spoke to them and they said ok no worries we understand how it works etc and to ignore any future letters that are system generated saying the same as the letter we had received. At this point i did ask him if we would get late payment charges and late payment notes put on our credit file to which he said no. OK so feeling reassured by what he said i carried on getting the paperwork signed every month and sending it to them as requested and ignored the letters that came through.

I got hold of a copy of my credit report this week only to find they have been putting late payment notes or marks whatever on my credit file.. Can they do this, even though the guy said it won't happen as they know how the insurance work with payments...?
