Right then ladies.... help needed (again!)

More exciting this time though!! Yesterday I went dress shopping for the first time:j tried several on and this was by far the best (posting link so OH doesn't see when looking over my shoulder!!) pic

However, it's just not quite right. By this I mean:

The shape I love, the waist line is what I need for my shape, apparently I'm high waisted, and I personally don't want the dress hanging off my hips, making them look any bigger than they are :p therefore I felt so comfy in the dress..... however.... I don't like the way the skirt is hunched up down the side.

Also I didn't feel 100% with the length of the train, the lady in the shop said it was the standard length nowdays. I'm sure I could get used to it, I just think it's because it's not everyday you're in a wedding dress :j:T (so exciting) :rotfl:

Therefore the reason to this post, has anyone seen a dress simpler whilst they've been shopping, with the sam waist line but without the hunch?

Afraid I haven't got a specific recommendation for you, but hope this helps anyway!
I felt the same as you after my second trip - I'd found two dresses that I really liked, but couldn't choose and wasn't sure either was exactly right. So I went again to a different shop and tried some others on, trying to keep in mind what I liked about the first two and picking dresses to try on that had elements of the first two And I found the right one, which is a bit of a cross between the two I'd first liked.
So keep looking, if it's not quite right, don't buy it - I was very sceptical about the idea that you 'know' when you put on the right dress, but that did happen for me.
Good luck, and enjoy the hunting - the only downside about finding my dress was that I couldn't keep looking!

Thank JenE, I'm going to keep looking, even as a sale price that the dress was yesterday, I couldn't face spending a fortune on a dress I'll be wearing for 12hours, as nice as it was

Is is possible to get the haunched up bit let down by a seamstress? also the train could possibly be altered. I am having my dress made and not having a train at all as all the dresses i tried on with trains done my head in:o I also dont have a very big aisle to walk down so theres no point in it really :)

i would ask linda on here if she thinks its possible to alter the dress to your requirements.

  • Have you looked into having one made? It might be worth getting a quote and they could base the design on the two you like, it might not be as expensive as you think and it would fit perfectly. My partner is having a top and trousers made and it's costing £300 - I realise this is very different from a dress but she (the dressmaker) also made our friends wedding dress a couple of years ago for about £500.

  • Good luck finding 'the one'. Sure you'll know when you find it.

As for cost, can't provide a link (sorry) but there's a thread on here somewhere relating to designer copies, which are made to measure and imported from the Far East somewhere at much more 'friendly' prices. As you say, you only wear it for a few hours so as long as you feel like a Princess.....

Congratulations and hope you have a great day (and marriage, of course! ;))
