hi hope someone can help

i am looking to buy a dslr and i found this site www.buygeendot.com there price are very low (but it is mostly last seson stuff).

i want to know if they are legit or not i can't find any reviews of info on the web

someone, somewhere must of used them and know if they are real

Decidedly dodgy. Domain buygreendot.com was only registered on 7th October 2009. I can find few mentions of them when I google, other than questions similar to yours. Not worth the risk in my opinion.

someone tried to call their contact details and ended up talking to a lady in dartmouth or something like that, the company is actually registered in the US and proxied to the UK.

BuyGreenDot's 'About' page says they're an online UK registered company since 2005, but their website domain was only registered on 7-Oct-2009, and to an anonymous US proxy with no UK contact.

Checking Companies House, there is no registered company with that name, the only two similar named companies are non-trading and dormant.

It doesn't add up so be careful.

Hello. Just registered to add my concern.

I have been intrigued by their too good to be true prices. A quick google on some of the sentences on their 'about us' tell me they have ripped off the about us pages from a couple of other legit sites.

i spoke to someone in trading standards today they are aware and doing what they can. if i'd lost money they'd have told me to contact consumerdirect (dot) gov (dot) uk to tell them.

In their T&Cs, BuyGreenDot.com claim to be a trading name of IntecMicrosystems Ltd.
Yesterday (19-Oct-09) I emailed IntecMicro and recieved a reply from one of their Directors confirming that there is no association between them, and that IntecMicro are trying to stop BuyGreenDot from advertising that there is.

Warning from Trading Standards - bogus website

Bexley Trading Standards Team is warning residents about a bogus website allegedly located in Crayford that offers low-priced electrical equipment and accessories.

buygreendot claims to be based in Bourne Road Crayford but the address is false and the telephone number given is in fact a local private residence.

The appropriate authorities have been alerted but, in the meantime, Trading Standards' advice is not to place any orders on the website and don't give your credit or debit card details.

If you have already paid for goods, you should report the matter to Consumer Direct - the government telephone and online advice service - at consumerdirect.gov by telephoning 08454 04 05 06. If you paid by credit or debit card, you should notify the card issuer as soon as possible.

The information gathered by Consumer Direct will be treated in confidence but will help with subsequent investigations by Trading Standards and other enforcement agencies.

It's hosted by GoDaddy (they both own the domain and host the website). Given sufficient evidence that it's an illegal scam they'll take it down.

Just founded today this company on internet by google search for a cheap apple macbook and what suprice is coming up the price by this company was around 450£ for a new one! I have some bad experience before and lost some money with !!!!!!! like this so I do proffed and searching for the adress and other stuff because this price is realy silly. Try to order the cheapest item on this site for 6£ and by checkout come out I need to order min. item (s) for 100£! What the f***. I thing this people work like the niggeria gangster s*** in espanol or holland etc. WISCH TO KNOW HOW TO DELETE THEM FOREVER!

There site came up when I was looking for a laptop. They came out about £70 cheaper than everyone else. I thought great, then I checked their cameras prices (which I am an expert on) and found that they were all over the place so I decided that it is a rip off site. Stay away.

Was checking some prices on Google Shopping and was annoyed to see that buygreendot were still showing up as cheapest price for numerous items. However, when I tried to go to their site I now get a 503 - Service Unavailable error. Looks like they have been taken down but we will have to live with the false info on price comparison sites for a while.
