  • Does your son's uni have a Joblink service? I've found several part-time jobs through my uni's, and the best thing is that before they're allowed to advertise, they have to agree to certain working conditions so that they do not interfere with uni work (ie a certain number of hours per week, minimum wage). Also just wanted to say please don't feel guilty about the amount you give your son, everyone at uni has different circumstances and a different level of support from parents, but the only thing that matters is that you are there for him, I wish my mum was so bothered about coming to visit, she's only been over once in the 4 years I've been at uni!
    Just my thoughts

I wont see her til July when we are coming down for her graduation. It is a 4.5 hour drive for us- we are up in Co. Durham. Going to have a few days in Yarmouth and make a bit of a holiday out of it!!!
Son is at Preston and thats a 2 hour drive too!!!

I know it is a long time!!Its just been a money thing really and then when we were going down she couldnt get time off work etc etc!!
But, like yourself, I speak or texted every day and she knows I am always thinking about her!! She has worked so hard- she is doing a maths degree and needs to spend lots of time studying
even her coming up for a weekend has just seemed impossible. She always seems to have so much coursework to do!! She has got a 1st the last 2 years running and she is sooo hoping to get a 1st in her finals(so am I cos I know how hard she has worked and how much it will mean to her!!). If she gets her first she has been offered a place at Cambridge to do her masters!!So you can imagine how proud I am!!
    What is your daughter studying?
    xx

    Hi Gilly
You must be very proud of her!!!
My daughter is studying buisness studies/accounting and is in her 1st year, she has done well in her exams getting first's which makes me proud!!
It has taken her a while to decide what she wanted to do, she started a course at norwich college which wasn't really for her, she then took a gap year, and started uni last sept.(She is 20 omg where did those years go!!! getting soppy lol)
    She is thoroughly enjoying it!!
    xx

Ask uni careers service for help with temporary work, they will probably have a department dealing with jobs suitable for students.
