They took my money but say I didn’t pay…Help!

Not sure if this is the right board...however...im having a real nightmare!

My 3 mobile bill was for £33.09

I don’t have a direct debit with them since they kept messing it up so I sent them a cheque for that amount on the 15th They took the money out on the 20th.

Since the 19th my 3 mobile phone is on incoming calls only. They have blocked my service and said that I owe them £33.09 Last Friday I faxed them my bank statement and details of where I sent the cheque to but still nothing.

I have spoken to them lots of times and they keep saying its with the relevant department and are dealing with it, they said the cheque might have gone to the wrong account.

What can I do?
You can imagine how frustrating it is to not be able to make calls on your phone. But they don’t seam to care.

My contract doesn’t run out until december!

I await the advice of my fellow money savers...
In Jan 2007 I had a debt of £27,896.00
In October 2011 I paid it off and owned £0.00 - Kinda proud of this!:T

No wonder you're frustrated. If it was me, I'd be inclined to write another letter but more of a complaint, enclosing proof of payment and outlining the situation. I'd also send it recorded delivery and give them a time scale ie 7 days from the date of your letter to respond with a satisfactory explanation.

My husband has a account with 3, their customer services are ****!!
Anyway, they have cashed your cheque,so this is their error, ring them back up,and speak straight away to the most senior person, tell them your situation, ask who you are talking to,and don't get of the phone until they have resolved this :D Good luck

3 are one of the worst mobile providers I know of, a few friends had problems with the actual phones and 3 were unhelpful to reslove the issue, like aussielle states, write a letter detailing the situation including the proof of payment and I would state that if they failed to resolve the issue effectivly that you'd cancel the contract with them and look esle where, that usually gets them more willing to resolve your complaint/situation. Then take it from there.

I personally would leave the 3 network and go to a more realiable service. :T

Call the bank and ask for a copy of the cheque it will show who and when it was cashed. They can't argue with this kind of proof.

Yes as said above, they should also now be forced to reinburse the charge for the copy cheque and I would go so far as to ask for compensation for all phone calls you have had to make.

    Hi ya,

I believe you can contact OFCOM and they should be able to give you the name and number or possible address (business naturally) of one of their managing directors. If you send a complaints letter to an MD it is likely to get dealt with faster as MDs don't like dealing with the public, especially when they have departments that are meant to help customers!
    Debts (As of 10th September):
    Original - £7938.11, Now - £0

Matched Betting Profits (From 05/11/06): £1026.45 (of which £214.20 is cashback)
  • Me & my OH had major problems with '3'. I wished to cancel the contract after 10 months due to a faulty phone, (repaired by them twice) :A poor customer service, ignored e-mails & ignored letters. Eventually they called me to (believe it or not) sell me another phone. After a few more calls & rants, they eventually gave in. Their call centre is in india & communication is difficult. I could not get to talk to anyone in the UK. Cheeky monkeys also tried to take 3 further payments from my bank a/c but my bank claimed the back. they tried to imply that i had a PAYG when in fact i had a contract.
You do have to persevere with them, it does pay off eventually.
    Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!
