Need a new Fridge-Freezer

Hi

I'm a newbie and I was hoping for some advice.

I need to buy a new fridge-freezer pretty soon (the old one is definitely on it's last legs).

We would prefer to buy one that is new but perhaps has some minor shop damage. Has anyone any idea on how to go about this. I have approached Currys and they only want to sell at full retail price.

have you looked at the Comet clearing website, its like an auction type of thing where you place bids in for the itrem you want.

Do you know, if the site says that the product sells new at £x - does this have to be true? I just want to calculate the saving.

I would assume that the instore price is the price that they usually flog the items at so yep you should be able to work out your saving without any problem.

I just bought one this week new from an online site from england - very efficient indeed and I had also looked at comet and did not like the fact that you had to register and give credit card details before you bid on anything - register yes but not card details so did not try their auction although looked good.

Yes, I wasnt keen on that on the comet site plus you dont get to see them in the flesh til they are delivered and I guess you have less rights really. At least it would be a huge hassle to return it.

I never thought of the credit card details before I purchase - definitely wouldn't like that one.

I wasn't too sure about it being an auction, do I have the same rights as I would have if I bought retail?

That site did look good.........until I saw delivery was £30!!

Yeah £30 is a bit steep, but I would have no other way to get it home.

If you are near Peterborough there is a factory shop in the Hotpoint factory, they sell damaged ones cheap

Thanks for the tip about eBay - I had always thought it was just for second hand goods.
