Oz Season 5, which is available to buy on DVD from Paramount Home Entertainment from June 30, contains all eight episodes from the series’ penultimate season and remains a show which violently grips viewers and won’t let go.
Emerald City has been renovated, and whilst the gleaming new cafeteria and just-painted walls may give the impression of a fresh start, the inmates are feeling anything but fresh. The various groups of Emerald City, continue to clash, unabated, in the most barbaric ways. The Aryans, Muslims, Sicilians and Latinos are embroiled in a whirlwind of instigation and retribution as stabbings (using a crucifix on one, gruesome occasion) and slashings become part of the everyday struggle to survive within the walls of Emerald City. Body parts are severed and the new paintwork soon finds itself splattered with the blood of Oz’s inmates, including one of Emerald City’s main characters.
