kettles

Options
i just wanted some advise, i hope this is the correct place

my kettle has finally died a death after just 2 years service. this is my third kettle in just over 5 years, and i'm now tempted to go for the old style on the stove kettles. i've found a le creuset one for just £32 including delivery, which seems a good deal as it has a 10 year guarantee, i just wondered what you guys thought

    Hi Moo,

I'm moving your post over to "I wanna buy it or do it" as it would be more specific for there, hope you don't mind.

my kettle died about two weeks ago, so i decided to get a stove top one as i get through quite alot too. but having tried it i,m now going back to electric as it takes ages to boil, then you have to lift the whistling thingy up to pour the water but you have to be carefull of steam that shoots out. you can also measure the water level with electric, mine you can't. don't know what the le creuset is like (it,s alot of money compared to mine, ) so i should imagine it will be better.

From she who goes through everything on a yearly basis including kettles i can recomend the russell hobbs thermal color, i have had that about 3 years and would love to change it to match my new kitchen but being tight i wont till it dies or leaks but it just keeps going its blue and turns to pink when boiled and thought it a good idea with the kids and no touchy when pink but kinda looks a bit out of place in my new kitchen but its still going strong and only cost me £15 3 years ago so maybe you might not get the model but maybe quality stays with the brand;)
The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

We use the supermarket cheapo ones. The first one broke after about 3 years when it was dropped, and the present one is still going strong after nearly 6 years.

We juse replaced our kettle after well over a decade of use!! It started to leak a bit but still worked - it was a Morphy Richards Bramble design.

We have gone for a Tesco Value cordless kettle costing £5.48. It has good capacity and so far I have no complaints. We shall see how long it lives! I expect kettles to give at least 5 years so.. might be a while before I post again to tell of it's lifespan with a bit of luck! :p
    3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

Yes I recently bought the Tesco Value kettle and have no complaints, at £5.48 hard to beat that price.

mine was half price at atkinsons £10.00, but argos has a similar whistling kettle ( page 752) £9 .99 it's worth trying at that price.
