Seafish, the seafood industry body, has launched a new healthy eating campaign to remind people of the health benefits of eating the recommended two portions of seafood a week, one of which should be oil-rich.
It's important to remember that oil-rich seafood, such as mackerel, herring, sardines, oysters and crab, is one of the best natural sources of omega 3 - an essential dietary requirement which helps maintain heart health and is believed to be beneficial to our joints, skin, digestive and immune systems. But seafood is also packed with a host of different vitamins and minerals, so to make the most of these it's important to vary the types eaten by the entire family.
A balanced diet is important for kids and many parents already encourage their family to eat the recommended two portions of seafood a week to help keep bodies and minds healthy. Annabel Karmel has lots of great ideas to help get little ones eating ‘2 a week' which is why My Child has teamed up with Seafish to offer 10 lucky readers the chance to win a copy of her ‘After School Meal Planner'.
To be in with a chance of winning this fantastic prize, all you have to do is answer the following question:
Q. How many portions of seafood should you eat every week?
A. - Two
- One
- None
Seafood is one of the healthiest foods around; it's delicious, nutritious and above all easy to cook. The biggest annual celebration of the seafood industry, Seafood Fortnight, will be taking place between 5-21 September. To find out more about what will be happening, log on to seafish.org/2aweek
