Held on the beautiful grounds of a 16th Century Hertfordshire manor house, Standon Calling offers a chance to see some of the most exciting, hotly tipped acts as they break, in one of the most magical, intimate festival settings in the UK.
With headliners firmly at the forefront of the UK music scene and only 2,500 guests, Standon Calling offers a unique chance to see a number of acts you'll be hard pushed to find playing anywhere as intimate again.
2008 acts confirmed so far include the likes of Super Furry Animals, The Maccabees, Mystery Jets, Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, Glasvegas, Los Campesinos!, Late of the Pier, Johnny Flynn, Friendly Fires, Metronomy, Paloma Faith and Acid Mothers Temple and the Cosmic Inferno plus XFM's very own Eddy Temple Morris.
As well as the music this year there will be all sorts of festival craziness based around a Japanese theme. There will be a massive dressing up session on Saturday afternoon so expect samurai and geishas squaring up to crazy game show hosts, harajuku girls, yakuza gangsters and manga characters... oh, and Rockaoke.
As one of the only non-profit making festivals, Standon Calling is this year raising fund for the Phoenix Futures Charity and its work with the victims and families of the victims of drug and alcohol abuse across the UK.
Standon Calling is taking place Friday 1st - Sunday 3rd August 2008 in Standon, Hertfordshire. For more info please check out their website - www.standon-calling.com
