Saturday 5th July already reads like the beginnings of a history of dance music. With superstar DJ FATBOY SLIM taking the decks for the climax of the biggest dance party Hyde Park has seen and able support from legendary funk master BOOTSY COLLINS and techno titans UNDERWORLD. With current chart smash SAM SPARRO making his UK festival debut and hotly tipped Mancs THE WHIP already on the bill the following additions up the ante and guarantee a beat filled day to kick off the weekend.
It seems appropriate that CORNERSHOP should share the bill with Fatboy given that his remix of their ‘Brimful Of Asha’ pretty much dominated the airwaves over the summer of 1998 propelling itself to Number One. MSTRKRFT are kings of the remix, having worked with the likes of Kylie Minogue and New Young Pony Club amongst others alongside releasing their own brand of dark house. AUDIO BULLYS, whose top 5 ‘Shot You Down’ single remains a dance classic, return to the live scene and underground dance heroes BOOKA SHADE make a rare UK festival appearance. New acts in the shape of CAGED BABY, LEON JEAN MARIE and JAPANESE POP STARS signal the continuing good health of the scene with their debuts at O2 Wireless Festival.
