Noel and Julian’s inaugural festival of musical madness and comedy mayhem is one of the most hotly anticipated events of the summer.
The Mighty Boosh have added a comedy tent to the festival lay out, aptly named ‘The Velvet Onion’. The comedy line-up features multi award-winning international cult comic Ross Noble who has been described as “The most brilliant stand-up of his generation” (Sunday Telegraph), and critically acclaimed Scottish comedian Frankie Boyle, known for his numerous television appearances (Mock the Week, 8 out of 10 Cats, They Think It’s All Over, Law of the Playground, The Live Floor Show, The Graham Norton Show to name a few)andsell-out national tours.
Other comedians confirmed for the festival include Arj Barker (Flight Of The Conchords), Josie Long (If.Comedy Award WINNER), Mark Watson (If.Comedy Award WINNER), Matthew Holness (Garth Marenghi) Perrier Award WINNER, Milton Jones (Perrier Award WINNER), Wil Hodgson (Perrier Award WINNER), Tom Basden (If.Comedy Award WINNER), Pappy's Fun Club (If.Comedy Award Nominee), David O'Doherty (If.Comedy Award Nominee), Simon Munnery (Perrier Award Nominee), Andrew Lawrence (If.Comedy Nominee), Dan Clark (The Mighty Boosh TV Show), Robin Ince (The Book Club), Arnab Chanda, Paul Foot and Greg Fleet.
Over on the main stage, which is now called ‘Monkey Hell’, NME darlings The Kills and controversial Canadian electro pop starlet Peaches (DJ Set), will be joining The Charlatans, Gary Numan, White Denim and Polar Bear.
Anglo American post punksters, The Kills, have certainly come a long way since their raw as bones debut album, Keep on Your Mean Side, released in 2003. Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince unrelenting work ethic and a knack for killer tunes have now propelled the duo into the A list fashionista circles and on the covers of countless in vogue magazines.
The band’s latest long player, Midnight Bloom, released earlier this year to rave reviews has finally put The Kills on the international music stage. A firm favourite of the Boosh and their fans, this outing looks set to sizzle!
Getting the right DJ with the baddest box of tunes and a killer personality is a tough call, especially if you’re trying to keep the Boosh crowd going between bands. The Boosh boys have delved into their little black book of friends and roped in the talents of cross gendered electro bad girl Peaches (DJ Set). Renowned for her fiery, hi-octane live shows, often involving themes of cross-dressing and homosexuality, the former drama school teacher brings her mixed bag of punk-funk, electro and grimy tunes to the Mighty Boosh stage.
Of course, no Mighty Boosh festival would be complete without a performance from the boys themselves. They will headline the day’s events with a comedy extravaganza on the main stage.
Entertaining 30,000 fans, the Perrier, NME and RTS Award winners Julian Barratt and Noel Fielding AKA Howard Moon and Vince Noir, will delight fans with their magical and comical wizardry and take us on a hilarious journey from their Nabootique homeland to the very ends of the comedy universe!
