J2 Solutions - How do I deal with them?

I had a letter come through my door at the weekend from J2 Solutions. It was addressed to the occupier. It had my address in bold underlined along with my previous name (I changed my name via a solicitor over a year ago) and my name before I married. It was asking if ‘the occupier’ knew me or if it was me to contact them as they were trying to get hold of me regarding a personal matter. I haven’t contacted them but going by the threads I’ve read on here they have also sent these letters to my neighbours. I only moved here just over a year ago and only took a few things with me in my married name, which have now all been changed and I’m not on the electoral roll so I don’t understand how they have found me. I don’t believe any of the neighbours know my first name let alone my previous surname so I doubt if they would have told them anything. I believe the debt they are chasing was one from approx 2004 so it is still valid. What is the best way to go from here? Should I contact them? If I don’t will they give up? If they do get hold of me in the end how should I deal with them?

I took out a car loan with yes car credit and little did i know exactly what i was signing for i did agree to have all their insurances by signing whatever was put in front of me - incase i wrote the car off, incase i last my job etc. - I did lose my job about 6 months later due to depression (which the insurance policy did not cover!) I called them and explained the situation and they told me to bring the car back which i did before i'd even missed a payment - i thought that was the end of the matter but then i got a bill for 6k for all these insurances I'd signed for unknowingly (yes i know i should have been more carefull about what i was signing but we'd been up in this office all day been passed around from pillar to post and although i knew roughly what these insurances were for they wasnt explained properly and nor was the total cost of them and surely these proffessional high profile company was all sound and so helpfull they wouldnt be charging me for something i didnt NEED to have - wrong) I tried to work out some agreement with them to pay it back as by then i was out of work, single (i'd just split up with my husband) and still sufering with depession but they was quite adament that what i was offering wasn't good enough... they even offered to cut me a deal saying they'd knock 2k off if i paid large lump sums. Which i couldnt do. I then moved a few times and so didn't hear from them and of course i didnt contact them and yes i know i should have sorted it out but i begrudged paying this 6k for absolutely nothing - i didnt miss a car payment, took the car back as soon as i knew i wouldnt make the payments and didnt even claim on the insurance policys that didnt even help me when i needed them to. - Yes this is me trying to justify why i want to avoid these people because of the 1st posting.

Welcome sold me insurance which I couldnt use, I was off work with depression and rang them to let them know and find out how to make a claim and the woman breezily announced that their insurances didnt cover that sort of illness grrrrr. I cancelled the insurance a few days later as it was no use to me, but I know you cant do that now.

What about claiming the money back as mis-sold?

Definitely take a look reclaiming the policy as it as mis sold to you, I don't really have much experience of that but I am sure Martin has a guide somewhere.
