Europe's largest crime writing festival begins on Thursday 17th July this year, and runs until Sunday 20th July, at The Crown Hotel in Harrogate. As always you can expect appearances from some of the very best crime authors around. This year's special guests include Andy McNab and Jeffery Deaver, Peter Robinson and Tess Gerritsen will be facing questions from Simon Kernick and Paul Blezard, the topics under discussion will include religious symbolism and James Bond, and MC Beaton will be talking us through her own particular brand of the cosiest crime.
For more information and to book tickets, please call: 01423 562303, or visit www.harrogate-festival.org.uk/crime.
The Longlist has now been announced for the Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Award 2008, all 20 titles are shown below. We think you'll agree that this year's line up is very strong indeed with a great mix of heavyweights and rising stars. The shortlist will be decided by Waterstone's customers so vote now for your favourite book from the longlist and enter our fantastic competition to win a trip to the festival, where the winner of the award will be announced.
All you have to do to reach the competition entry page is place your vote. Waterstone's Cardholders who vote and enter the competition will also be automatically entered into a draw to win signed copies of the shortlist. Find out about the Waterstone's Card.
Remember to watch this space for the shortlist when it is announced at the end of June.
Good Luck
