Dark, chaotic and hedonistic, Late Of The Pier burst onto the scene with show stealing performances at last years Underage, Reading and Leeds festivals. With their unique fix of fizzing analogue, and digital synths, their sound has been compared to Brian Eno, Gary Numan and Klaxons, and has already earned them the coveted single of the week from NME for their last single, Bathroom Gurgle.

Having established their own label, Zarcorp, through Parlophone Records, Late Of The Pier will release their third single on May 19th, featuring the tracks Space And The Woods and Focker. Produced by Mixmags DJ of the year 06, Erol Alkan, who has remixed tracks for the likes of Scissor Sisters and Daft Punk, the Castle Donington quartet look set to make 2008 the Year of the Pier.

Leicester four piece, The Displacements second single Lazy bones was released on Stiff Records in December. They have been likened to The Who, The Delays, and The Kinks, thanks to their energetic guitar riffs, catchy choruses and dark, pounding drums. A riotous appearance at the Summer Sundae festival last year was followed by plays on Steve Lamacqs Radio 1 show, and they have recently had tracks produced by Owen Morris of Oasis and Verve fame.

New Zealanders Collapsing Cities play spiky indie post punk, with sharp lyrics and equally slick tunes. Their debut single Fear Of Opening My Mouth is due for release on Way Out West (Laura Marling, Jamie T) on May 26th.

New Yorkers A Place To Bury Strangers made their mark on the NME at South by South West this year, declaring them one of their top 10 bands. Their post punk , shoegaze sound has been likened to Jesus and the Mary Chain and Joy Division. Debut single To Fix A Gash In Your Head will be released this month on Meal Deal Records.

Signed to French label Kitsune, home to Simian Mobile Disco and Digitalism, Cazals are one of the most forward thinking guitar bands in British music today. Their razor sharp sound mixes a rasping vocal with spiky guitars and unforgettable melodies, making their first EP To Cut A Long Story Short a work of tremendous depth

Bringing their lean, cosmic, catchy pop to the stage in Liverpool, are St Albans trio Friendly Fires. Their debut EP for fledgling East London label Strange Boutique covers many bases, from the funk heavy strut of Photobooth, to the irreverent take on Frankie Knuckles house classic, Your Love.

Philadelphia born musician Santogold will play a one off gig for Levis ® OnesToWatch ® this month, in Shoreditch. Her wildly eclectic sound is a mix of pop, rock, dub and electronic influences. Her debut features a roll call of cutting edge collaborators (Diplo, Disco D, Sinden) which makes for a record packed full of intoxicating, nuclear powered pop songs.

Former songwriter for hire for artists including Lily Allen, and guest vocalist on Mark Ronsons Versions album, Santogold has finally come into her own in 2008, with an original and quality debut. https://www.myspace.com/santogold
