If it's true what they say, and everyone has an inner demon, this is a chance for YOU to unleash yours on the world, via the pages of a Darren Shan book!!!
I want you to dig deep through the most unpleasant corners of your imagination and come up with the most disgusting, hideous, terrifying monster you can think of. A creature which will leave readers shaking in their boots - or, better yet, throwing up over them! When you're done, make sure you give it a name too - a demon always needs a cool-sounding name!
The winning demon will appear in a scene in Book 9 of The Demonata. I'll also give the winner an OBE mention at the start of the book. AND I'll meet up with them in person, to give them a signed copy of the book and discuss all things nasty and horrible!
In order to fit it into the scene in the book, please bear the following points in mind. One - the demon must have eyes. Two - it should be able to move swiftly. This will be the first time I've let a fan create a monster for my books, and I'm hoping for some truly vile, vicious beasts, whose description will make me gag! So go on, hit me with your worst - I dare ya!!!

7. No cash alternative will be offered. The prize is non-transferable.
8. A judging panel including Darren Shan will decide the winner by no later than 31st July 2008. The prize winner will be notified by telephone/e-mail, and will need to respond by midnight 5th August 2008 as to whether they are able to accept the prize. If a selected entrant does not meet all of the contract conditions, another entrant will be selected from the remaining eligible entries.
