Getting Coins and Hummel figures valued

My mum has a few Hummel figures and a number of coins collected by my late father that she wishes to sell. Where is the best way to get them valued/sold with out getting conned, or ripped off. I'm in the Notts/derby area, and have no experience of auctioneers etc.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

  • Try doing a search on the Antiques Trade Gazette website they have a database of auction selling prices. You could also try an ebay completed items search or just pop round to an auction house-see the list at

You won't get much of an idea of value from e-bay. I list coins on e-bay for someone, a few weeks ago I listed one for 99 cents, it wasn't really worth anything because it wasn't rare or in good condition but it sold for $547 :o
I've listed some rarer ones for $40 that haven't sold. You'd be better off going to have them valued properly, though I have no idea where you'd start :-/
