If you are after a 17" TFT monitor you can upgrade the above offer for an additional £580

I have this unit for the kids and it is very good for the price.0

Cool, so for £468 you get a similar deal (no speakers or extra graphics) to the mispriced ones the other day that were £407.
That means that anyone buying those mispriced ones with the sole intention of selling them on won't be making much :rotfl: Excellent.0 -
Forgive my stupidity but there is no modem with this spec. Is this a problem and if I need one which of the Dell recommended ones should I go for. Also does Microsoft Works 7 allow you to do Word, Excel and Powepoint?
thanks for any help provided.Val

I wouldn't worry about not having a modem. external ones are very cheap and when signing up for broadband u usually get a free one anyway.
Hope that helps."A goldfish left Lincoln logs in me sock drawer!"

Although this machine has a smaller hard disk, no graphics card, no DVD RW, no speakers, no modem, no 9in1 flash card reader and only a 15" TFT screen. I think those people selling the £407 machines on should have no trouble making at least £100 per system profit if not more. That means that anyone buying those mispriced ones with the sole intention of selling them on won't be making muchYou don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -
Hi rockman.
I might have a spare modem.
coming out of the £407 dell machines i have coming. Its sholud be no problem to install as its the ones installed in dell machines (and i doubt they do to many varieties)
Lmk if your interested.0 -

not exactly.
you forgot about the hard drive being a 250gb,the fact it had a dual layer dvd writer, and that it came with the choice of a 256mb x600 video card for just £23.
im betting every £407 machine that people got they made at least £100 on it.
you wouldnt be able to resale that one, especially as ebay will be flooded with the £407 machines
psst....wanna buy one lol0 -
One of the £407 machines just went for £490 on Ebay WITHOUT the 17" screen, which the seller will probably get another £130 for - I make that around £213 gross profit. So maybe not such a bad deal after all?
I'm keeping mine though - get rid of my daughter's old P3 800 and she will get a swanky new machine for about £300 after I've sold all the bits on hers.

Damn, you guys are right, I didn't realise the £407 deal had all those extras hehe

I think the prices on ebay for these machines will lower a bit when there's lots listed -i.e. when people start receiving them. But I agree, there's still decent money to be made.0
