The Dark Knight hits UK cinema screens on July 25 and here, in a new deluxe hardback edition, is one of the film’s major inspirations.
Batman: The Killing Joke - Deluxe Edition (available to buy from April 25, courtesy of Titan Books) is one of the most controversial tales from Batman’s career. The Caped Crusader must battle to outwit his deadliest foe, The Joker, after the grinning madman commits an unspeakable crime which will change the face of Gotham City forever.
Christopher Nolan, director of new Batman movie The Dark Knight, has mentioned that The Killing Joke served as a major influence for the version of the Joker that appears in the movie, with the late Heath Ledger being given a copy of the book as reference for the role.
