To celebrate World Book Day 2008, Milton Keynes Libraries are running a Lyric and Rhyme competition for both children and adults.

The overall winner will receive a family ticket (2 adults & 2 children) for the show of their choice at Milton Keynes Theatre. The winner and runner up of each category will receive a book voucher.

The winners and runners up within each category will be notified by Friday 20th June
2008.

The prize-giving event will be held at Milton Keynes Central Library on Wednesday 2nd July 2008 at 4pm when the overall winner will be announced.

The closing date for the competition is Friday 23rd May 2008.

Rules of the Competition
The entry should be a poem or lyrics of a song (please do not send the musical score).
Only one entry per person will be accepted.
Entries must be original, the work of the entrant and must not have been previously published.
The competition is open to anyone, apart from the members and families of the World Book Day Steering Group.

Age groups:
5 years to 6 years
7 years to 8 years
9 years to 12 years
13 years to 16 years
Adults 16 years and over
Skills for Life student

The poem or song lyrics should be double-spaced if possible, with the title on each sheet.

How to submit your entry
All entries must be accompanied by the tear off strip from the entry form, also available from your local library, detailing the title, entrant's name, full address, age, date of birth, name of school (if applicable), name of Skills for Life: literacy training provider (i.e. ACE, Milton Keynes College etc if applicable), telephone number and email address (if applicable).
Email entries must also include this information.
The entrant's name must not appear on the pages of the poem or lyric.
Entries will not be accepted unless presented in this manner.

Unfortunately we are unable to return the entries but if you require acknowledgement of delivery for posted entries please enclose a separate stamped self-addressed postcard.
Milton Keynes Council retains the right to publish any poems or lyrics entered for the competition in whatever form they choose, but copyright will rest with the author.
The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence can be entered into.
