I've got a poser for you all ... itchy bits

At work this week, I overheard this conversation (and as some of you will know, you'll understand why my ears pricked up - and not just because I'm a nosy b!tch)!
One of the bosses has gone 'wireless' at home (computer speak). He got a free wireless router from the phone provider.
A few hours later, his wife complains, she is itchy all over and feels ill. (She cannot be in the same room when he puts the Wii on for his son as it make her feel ill). He noticed too, that his throat was very dry.
He spoke to the provider and they are sending out a 'wired' router - it would seem that they have had other people reporting similar problems.
Conversations then went on about others who had skin problems due to wireless routers - expecially the cheap ones given out free.
Have any of you had any skin problems or health issues related or potentially related to any of this equipment?
I'm hoping not - mainly as I love the Wii and cannot bear the thought of being without my laptop etc.
But boy, do I have itch issues :rotfl:

Blimey, I wonder what make theirs is!!
Luckily my router (which was free and is from orange) is in the cupboard under the stairs which is two rooms away from us in the lounge! Hopefully the walls block the itchy vibes !! ha ha ha
I have never heard of this before ever. Is it even possible? we have 3 laptops, 2 computers, a wii, and a PS3 all working wireless and none of us have unexplained itchiness (thankfully)!! Call of Duty widow :rolleyes:0 -
Now you come to mention it me and OH do itch a lot lately, no part in particular
and we have a wireless router and recently got a wii. Will have to keep an eye on this now, just in case. I'm sitting here scratching just thinking about it. :j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0 -
Pleased with the post from Bagpuss Fan but not with yours Scottishchick!!
I'm really hoping that these things are not the cause and if any of them can cause skin problems, it doesn't seem to affect everyone.
My bosses wife is very allergic to so many things. She won't go in the room if the Wii is on. The router, recently acquired the other day, made her itch like mad - my boss thought she was exaggerating until he noticed some symptoms, dry mouth and throat. He is fine with the Wii tho.
Maybe the Wii and routers shouldn't be on standby all the time??
Be interesting to hear if any one else has any ideas......... it does seem a bit crazy tho. But then again, the wireless ones must be causing some people problems because the supplier of the free router have agreed to send out a wired one as they know some people have problems....Genie

I'm sorry Genie, I just don't believe it. If anyone should get problems, it would be me!
I get static shocks all the time from the car, the hoover, the cat (??!) who now flinches when I go to stroke her, the washing from the tumble drier, my son!, pretty much anything. My hair goes stupidly static when it's frosty, it was the last time I was at the hairdressers and she said she'd never seen anything like it!.
I 'hear' electrical buzzing noises so loud that it used to wake me up, and i'd have to get up and turn everything off at the plug. Our sky + box makes a high pitched squeal when the light zooms round (no-one else can hear it) the laptops constantly make my hand tingle (yes I can feel it right now, and it's not nice)! Call of Duty widow :rolleyes:0 -
Funnily enough I was talking earlier to someone about this - and they said they could hear all the things on etc. just like you. I can't hear them myself - its just this skin problem thing that the others at work were talking about.
I'm hoping its a load of cr*p - even if not, the Wii and lap top etc are staying!Genie

OMG really??? Mine is a wanadoo wireless router too (they've changed to orange now), but the router is the original one and about 3 years old. Maybe it's just the new ones???
Just a thought Genie . . . . . maybe it's hayfever and nothing to do with the boxes?
Our dog gets hayfever really bad and he's so itchy at the minute he constantly drags himself around on the floor to itch his belly, he'll do this until his belly is bleeding if we let him!
Oops, now having visions of all the "itchy" people trying my dogs method of relief !!
Or perhaps an allergy to the latex wii remote covers? Call of Duty widow :rolleyes:0 -
