The competition kicks off on 21stFebruary 2008 and entrants have until 30 April 2008 to upload their delicious SPAM™ recipes, together with a picture, where they will be included in a gallery for all to see. Hormel Foods is keen for the UK public to show off the true versatility of SPAM® Chopped Pork & Ham and is encouraging people to be “open minded” in their recipe creations.

Finalists from across eight regions: <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:country-region w:st="on">Scotland</st1:country-region>, North East, <st1:State w:st="on">North West</st1:State>, The Midlands/Anglia, South East, South West, <st1:country-region w:st="on">Wales</st1:country-region>, and <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Northern Ireland</st1:place></st1:country-region> will be chosen to enter the final. This will be held on 18th June 2008 at renowned theatre restaurant, Steph’s, on <st1:Street w:st="on"><st1:address w:st="on">Dean Street</st1:address></st1:Street> in <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">London</st1:place></st1:City>. All finalist recipes will be tried out by a “yet to be announced” celebrity judging panel.
The overall winner will win the five day holiday to Minnesota for two and 7 runners up will receive a SPAM™ hamper containing both SPAM® products and merchandise.

Terms and Conditions
By entering into the SPAM™ Cook of the Year Competition (the "Competition") contestants agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions:-
<LI class=paratext>In order to enter the Competition contestants are required to log on to the SPAM™ UK website at
<LI class=paratext>The Competition opens on 21st February 2008 and shall close on 30 April 2008. No entries shall be accepted before the start date or after the closing date and entries shall be limited to one entry per contestant.
<LI class=paratext>The Competition is only open to residents of the United Kingdom who are above the age of 18. The Competition is specifically closed to employees of Hormel Foods and other associated companies, and their families and others professionally connected with this Competition.
<LI class=paratext>NO PURCHASE OF ANY SORT IS NECESSARY TO TAKE PART IN THIS COMPETITION. Contestants do not have to buy any SPAM® products or services in order to enter this Competition.
<LI class=paratext>There will be one (1) Grand Prize of a 5 night stay for two people at the four star Chambers Hotel in Minneapolis, Minnesota, plus return flights from London Gatwick or Heathrow, £500 spending money and a trip to the SPAM™ Museum in Austin, Minnesota. Hotel accommodation shall be half board only. The holiday must be taken in July or August 2008 and will be subject to availability. There will be six (6) Runners Up Prizes consisting of a SPAM™ hamper containing both SPAM® products and merchandise.
<LI class=paratext>No cash alternative is available and the Grand Prize is non-transferable.
<LI class=paratext>Hormel Foods has done its utmost to ensure luxury accommodation for the overall winner, however any issues with the hotel during the stay is not the responsibility of Hormel Foods. Any queries must be taken up directly with the hotel.
<LI class=paratext>Each regional winner will attend a finalist event at Steph’s restaurant in London, 18 June 2008, where their recipe will be made up and tasted by a specially selected panel of judges. The winner will be announced on the day and the judges’ decision is final. Failure to attend will result in disqualification from the Competition. Hormel Foods will organise / cover travel expenses to the event and finalists may bring one guest. All regional winners (and the chosen travel companion of the Grand Prize Winner) agree to take part in competition publicity at Hormel Food’s reasonable request. Details of the winners (name and county) shall be shown on www.spam-uk.com.
<LI class=paratext>Hormel Foods shall own the entire copyright to all entered recipes to the Competition. By entering the Competition, contestants grant and assign to Hormel Foods all copyright in their entries and agree specifically to Hormel Foods’ unrestricted use of the same for its own purposes in all marketing activities.
<LI class=paratext>By entering The Competition, contestants will automatically join the SPAM™ Fan Club to receive regular updates pertaining to the Competition and SPAM® Chopped Pork & Ham. By entering into this Competition contestants hereby give their consent for Hormel Foods and carefully selected third parties to contact them in the future. Any personal data provided by contestants shall be held and processed in accordance with the requirements of the 1998 Data Protection Act.
