I know how to get rid of pet toilet accidents' smells..

Options
I was recently recommended this and it works for my animals toilet accidents. 2 of my indoor (neutered) cats had been having 'piddle-wars', unfortunately up the radiator, when it was on, initially unbeknown to us - of course the smell permeated the whole room.. But not anymore, mix about 8 fl oz of hydrogen peroxide - the sort you do your hair with - available from a chemist, you'd only need 30 vol strength by the way - mix it with a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda and a tiny squirt of squeezy. mix it in a plastic jug or similar, pour it onto the stain, it will fizz up - leave it to work and once dry believe me the smell is gone. And its cheap. not like other expensive stuff that does not work or does not permanently get rid of smells. I have safely used it on carpet, wicker, plastic, lino, concrete area. Once the smell has gone they will no longer be attracted to mark the spot with theirs then the other follows suit, etc - I'm sure you know if you have pets! To be on the safe side with furnishings try a patch test first. Oh and keep the pets away from the treated area whilst its wet, of course. Try it, I'm sure you will be quite happy with the result, I know I have been searching for a solution for years - I think it came from an old fashioned book.. I'm trying it behind the telly next, a favourite place of cats to wee and mine has... I think really strong smells will need two applications maybe, but all mine just needed one.

  • White vinegar works as well. Something to do with Ammonia neutralising the smell according to my "how clean is your house" (not very) book.
My mind not only wanders .......... sometimes it leaves completely

I use biological washing powder mixed with warm water - only problem is those bits of carpet now look cleaner than the rest!

We had a very stressful time with our male cat 3.5 years ago. He was urinating indoors - in multiple places, including on floors, beds and carpets. It turns out he had a urinary tract infection. This can be lethal - esp for boy cats. Luckily, after a few trips to the vets and a controlled diet, he has got healthy again.

At the time, I used Simple Solution from Pets at Home - was pretty good but didn't 100% get rid of smells TBH.

But, pls get your cat/dog checked out if they are going indoors as it could be an infection.
