A Better Life

Right I have aquired/inhertited the funds to pay my debts in full. I have just over 26k to clear debts of £23k. Now how do i go about paying them back.

Do I just ring them a pay over the phone or
Write them a letter saying I can pay them back in full

or even offer them a F&F settlement and try and talk them down to say 75% on the condition that the debt will be settled and noted on my credit file with no further action will be taken to recover the remaining debt, this will have to be done by writtern letters of course.

Glad of anyone's help.

Regards

Sorry if it's in wrong thread:confused:

  • It would be worth trying to negotiate reduced full and final settlements. Do it in writing and start off low. Stapeley has given advice on this before, so it might be worth trying to pm them.

I hate to sound harsh, but if you have the money to repay your debts in full surely you are at the very least morally obliged to do so. Why should those to whom you owe money to provide you with a discount?

Seconded to kipperman - only I dont "hate to sound harsh". A debt is a debt is an obligation.
